1020--- BRADY,TEXAS --Brady is a city in McCulloch County, Texas. Brady refers to itself as “The Heart of Texas”, as it is the closest city to the geographical center of the state. The geographical center of Texas is about 15 miles northeast of Brady.  Brady is the county seat of McCulloch County. The town is located at the edge of the Hill Country on the Old Dodge Cattle Trail.

Brady was settled in the mid 1870’s and named after Brady Creek that runs through town.  The first settlers in town, Henry and Nancy Fulcher donated the land for the town.

Things to Do and See:

Heart of Texas Country Music Museum…Located at 1701 S. Bridge Street this museum honors more than 75 country musicians with displays of costumes, instruments, personal items and life size wax figures.

Heart of Texas Historical Museum… Located at the corner of High and Main Streets this museum features early ranch and home exhibits, farm implements, weapons, photos and memorabilia.  The museum is housed in a restored country jail, circa 1910 and also has cells and prisoner hardware.

Brady Creek Reservoir…Located on F.M. 2028 and offers picnicking, camping as well as fishing.  Brady Creek Reservoir facilities include boat ramps and resorts.

When visiting Brady nearby attractions include Menard,  Llano and San Saba.
