Kingsville Depot Train Museum

Kingsville is the county seat of Kleberg County.

The community was established in 1904 after the St. Louis, Brownsville and Mexico Railway completed a line through the town. A post office was established that same year. The city is named after Richard King, owner of nearby King Ranch.

Depot Train Museum(pictured above)This restored 1904 depot Museum is located in downtown Kingsville and features artifacts and history  showcasing the railroads impact on the city. A reproduction of the original 1904 bandstand sits next to the museum.  Located t 104 E. Kleberg Street.  Free

John E. Conner Museum…This museum dedicates several its areas to specific historical factions of Texas History.  The Hall of South Texas History has displays of Native American, Mexican and pioneer Texas cultures, plus ranching and agricultural equipment  The Hall of Natural History features plants and animals of South Texas shown in natural habitats.  The Graves Peeter Hall of Horns features animal mounts.  The Discovery area has specimens for hands on examination. Located at 905 w. Santa Gertrudis Ave.  Free Donations accepted.

King Ranch…The King Ranch is a National Historic Landmark. The King Ranch was established in 1853 when Captain Richard Kings bought 68,500 acres of Spanish and Mexican land grants.  Today the King ranch sprawls across 825,000 acres of South Texas land and is an actual working ranch.  Guided tours are offered daily.  Nature tours, which are available by reservation,  showcase the ranch’s abundant wildlife and birds. Located west of Kingsville off Texas 141.  Admission Charge.

King Ranch Museum…This museum, housed in a renovated downtown ice plant features ranch photos by award winning photographer Toni Frissell.   It also has collections of antique coaches, vintage cars, saddle and other historic ranch items.  Located at 405 N. Sixth St.  Admission charge.

King Ranch Saddle Shop

King Ranch Saddle Shop…This beautiful King Ranch leather shop began because Captain Richard King was unsuccessful in finding quality saddles and leather good.  To solve this problem he began operating this saddlery shop more than 150 years ago. Located at 201 E. Kleberg St.

Kleberg County Courthouse

Kleberg County Courthouse…The 1914 Kleberg County courthouse was built one year after the county was organized and is the only courthouse the county has ever had. It is made of brick, tile and concrete in the Texas Renaissance style.

Parks….There are several parks and outdoor recreational areas located around Kingsville:

  • Riviera Beach and Loyola Beach are saltwater recreational areas on the upper reaches of Baffin Bay.  It is known for saltwater trout and red drum fishing.
  • Kaufer-Hubert Memorial Park and Sea Wind RV Resort…offers a boat ramps, campground swimming beach, picnic areas playground, fishing pier, and more.

When enjoying fun things to do in Kingsville visitors may also want to visit the nearby cities of Corpus Christi and Sarita.
